Gibraltar – 3rd January 2016 – With just five players turning up from the Lions Futsal side to face a full St Josephs Spark Energy side, with twice as many players on the bench, a 20-0 scoreline with 8 minutes to go was enough to see the Lions team limp out and the match abandoned.
Having held the score to 0-0 for the first eight minutes, Lions came apart as exhaustion started to sink in. A 14-0 scoreline by half time left the valiant five Lions players demoralised and just hoping for the end of the match. With one of their players going down injured within the first five minutes of the second half, Lions continued with just four on the pitch. As exhaustion sank in in full the players collapsed to the ground unable to proceed forcing the referee to call a halt to the match. A 20-0 scoreline saw St Josephs take not just the points but a massive goal difference record into the league table.
