New regulations enforced this weekend at the stadium have seen junior matches delayed and stopped during play when planes have been landing or taking off.
The new rules enforced as from today are believed to have come after complaints of potential hazards of balls falling into the runway. One parent commented “in all the years I have been coming I have never seen a ball being kicked in junior football over the fence but suddenly it’s a hazard.”
The additional delays means that women’s league matches are further delayed. The matches already played under dark conditions due to a lack of adequate lighting could be severely affected in the future.
Coresportgib, however, understands that the situation is temporary in nature with the Government and RAF already in talks and having reached a viable solution for the future which will not see the matches stopped.
