The Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and Minister For Sport Steven Linares today showed the new Governor works which are being undertaken at the small football pitches after showing him the newly created Sports Annex.
The works which were forced upon the sports authorities after complaints that ball were landing on the airfield by the new RAF Station commander are believed to have cost the government £90,000. The installation of the new nets and wires have already raised concerns over the effects to matches as they are around four feet below the height of the fences around the pitch. Already some teams are indicating that they will not be willing to play with such low nets.
The works are expected to be finished within the coming weeks, ready for after the easter break.
