Gibraltar’s women’s selection won their second consecutive match earlier today with a 3-2 defeat of Guardiaro CD, in Spain.

The local selection, who came from having won yesterday’s match 17-0 against San Bernardo, had a tougher match than yesterday, with the Gibraltarian ladies fighting all the way to the end.

Having gone two nil ahead in the first half through goals from Shania Robba and Lorena Garcia, they conceded after the break when Kyrelle Revagliatte was beaten with a lob over her. The young keeper had made several good saves in the first part of the match to keep Gibraltar in the game and came from having kept a clean sheet the previous days.

Guardiaro then scored a second when Revagliatte was able to parry the ball but the rebound was reached first by the home side to score their second.

Gibraltar’s third and winning goal came from a counter attack  in which Sherilyn Orfila scored putting the match at 3-2 for Gibraltar.

Speaking after the match Kyrelle Revagliette commented “we all played really well and distributed the ball amazingly , were improving and its showing and were all really happy and proud of the result against a team who are stronger than us.”

Gibraltar women’s success in Spain has highlighted the teams development in recent months having just a few months before played the same team and were defeated 5-1.

Tonight a senior men’s selection takes on San Roque as part of the latter’s anniversary celebrations hoping to mirror the women’s success in their friendly matches.
