A Rock XI selection, chosen from the 31 man squad announced for the national team, have been defeated by CD San Roque 3-1, in San Roque this evening.
The Gibraltar selection took the lead, only to see San Roque come back and take the game in the San Roque anniversary friendly match.
The score for Gibraltar was opened by Anthony Hernandez in the 19th minute. It took only a few minutes before San Roque equalised and took the lead. A shot/cross from De Jorge Junco surprised the Rock IX keeper for the equaliser. This was followed a few minutes later by a goal from Augustin for the 2-1.
San Roque scored their third and final goal before half time through a header on the 39th minute by Chieto.
The match was described by San Roque officials to have been played under a good friendly atmosphere.
Gibraltar’s first choice team, who weren’t involved in tonight’s match, will now play against Latvia in a full international on Tuesday where it is hope Gibraltar’s national team will fare better having already drawn against higher ranked Liechtenstein earlier in the week.
