Lincoln Red Imps today received their League Champions shield for the 2015/16 season for the 14th consecutive time.
Roy Chipolina lifted the trophy to the applause of over 100 Lincoln die-hards who had gathered after their 4-0 victory over Manchester 62.
The match had seen Lincoln dominate play from the start of the game, with Manchester’s defence in total disarray and conceding an early penalty.
Cabreras converted the penalty with ease. He was then closely followed by an easy strike from Kyle Casciaro for the second goal before Cabreras made it three before half time.
In an unexciting match, where neither team had anything to win or lose except pride the second half saw little change.
Manchester 62’s season has been riddled with difficulties in which they have been far from making an impression. Defensive errors, and a lack of an effective strike force other than Toncheff, Manchester struggled to reach Lincoln’s area. The few shots at goal causing few concerns to Navas.
Lincoln could have added a couple of more goals to their 4-0 score line had it not been for a couple of goal line clearances in the first half.
After the 90 minutes Manchester 62 player returned to their changing room whilst Lincoln Red Imps awaited to collect their league title shield for a record 14th consecutive time.
Lincoln Red Imps will now play in the first round qualifiers of the UEFA Champions league this summer. They will also be aiming to complete a consecutive league and cup double on the 22nd May when they play Europa FC in the cup final. Europa FC having yesterday announced that they have parted company with the Carrasco brothers who coached the team.
