With three teams participating in Euro Hockey tournaments this weekend the Minister for Sport has send his best wished to all.
In a statement this afternoon from the Government it says:
“The Minister for Sport, the Hon Steven Linares MP, wishes all three local hockey teams in action in European Competitions this week all the best in their respective tournaments.
The EuroHockey Club Champions Challenge III for Women, which will be hosted locally at the Bayside Sports Centre Hockey facilities, will see local hosts Hawks Ladies welcoming teams from Austria, Croatia, Lithuania, Sweden and Wales. In addition, local rivals Eagles Hockey Club close the list of teams participating.
“Hawks Ladies are the official hosts and I would like to thank them for their hard work in bringing the event to Gibraltar. However, I need to highlight that both Eagles HC and Hawks Ladies have worked extremely hard with their on-field preparations and so I wish them both well in the tournament. It is an event that has a strong local presence and so I urge the general public to attend and support our girls”.
Current male League Champions Grammarian HC are also in action away from Gibraltar when they travel to Bratislava, Slovakia on Wednesday to participate in the European Champions Challenge II.
“We must not forget our travelling contingent from Grammarians HC who will no doubt be worthy ambassadors for Gibraltar; All the best to them also”.
