Lions struck a deadly blow to Lincoln’s chances of toppling Manchester 62 from the top of the women’s league with a well earned 1-0 victory.
A player down after goalkeeper Kyrelle was send off for handling outside her area, Lions proved however, the physically better equipped to keep the pace of a tough match under the mid afternoon heat.
The match, which was evenly balanced saw some good exchanges between players, with pace and speed on both sides. Some tough tackling was also seen making the match an exciting encounter to watch.
Lions goal came from a break down the flank which saw the ball spread well across the field and with good movement in the centre space was created for a square pass to be met by recently returned Lorena Garcia to strike from outside the area. The ball rocketed to the top of the goal striking the crossbar and ploughing into the ball of the net with force for the 1-0.
Lincoln’s defeat means that Manchester continue ahead with seven points.
