Gibraltar and Lincoln Red Imps midfielder Liam Walker is on his way out of the Champions league club. In a surprise announcement on Twitter Lincoln Red Imps have revealed that they will not be renewing the Gibraltar international’s contract for next season.
“Lincoln Red Imps confirm that Liam Walker’s contract will not be renewed for this season. The club wishes him well for the future,” said a posting on Twitter.
Liam Walker has remained silent during the past weeks as rumours continued to persist that a “handshake” agreement with Europa FC had been reached prior to the Champions League matches last July.
Asked to comment on the recent rumours Liam has made no comment to the media as of yet.
Liam is listed in Transfermartkt as being valued at £100,000 with A.B Sports Ltd as their agents. He is known to have been approached by Europa FC officials as far back as June when talks of his contract renewal with Lincoln were already underway. It is understood that talks between Lincoln and Walker were stalled after terms being requested were discussed. Liam, who was expected to have renewed his contract before playing the Champions League matches, however, has held out.
Sources close to Europa FC last week indicated that the club had been expecting to sign two major league players, Liam Walker and Jack Sergeant, with their signing expected within the coming days. Liam has, nevertheless, remained silent when asked in recent days as to his future in Gibraltar football.
