Gibraltar United left the pitch content with the result after beating last seasons mid-table rivals Lynx. The latter seemed to match the newly restructured Gibraltar United who now play with foreigners within their ranks. Both teams had a balanced match in which the main play was in the middle half of the field. Few chances for either team dictated the run of play.
It was not until the final three minutes that following a half volley shot to the top of the crossbar, that Gibraltar United found the back of the net twice.
Mistakes by the Lynx defence in clearing the danger allowed a run onto goal for the first. The second came as a floated ball went over the head of the last defender to provide a clear chance at goal which was not missed.
Lynx failed to convert clear chances.
The 2-0 defeat left Gibraltar United fans with some joy. Expectations to see a high calibre of players fielded, following Salgados involvement in the club did not materialise with Gibraltar United struggling to find an opening against the team led by former national coach Allen Bula.
