Rugby squad announced for match against Hungary on Friday

Gibraltar Rugby has announced it’s 23-man squad for Friday’s trip to Hungary, with five additions to the Select XV that played out Saturday’s 21-21 draw with the Royal Marines. After missing the weekend through injury Aidan Beazley receives a test recall, and is joined by James Savignon, Nathan Ponce, Ronnie Gache and Xavi Bottino.

Gibraltar Rugby Spokesperson Jack Milner: “After impressing in recent deveiopment squads, and indeed against the Royal Marines at the weekend, it’s brilliant to see both Simon Adamsnon and Chris Griffin move through the ranks and claim a first test call-up. Despite the squad suffering with injuries incurred at the weekend, it looks a strong squad to represent Gibraltar, bidding to claim a third international win on the spin.”

GRFU Director of Rugby Mike Milward: “Following last weeks extremely physical game against the marines, we were left with a few selection challenges due to the timescale between games. However, as a credit to the hard work done by the GRU we have quickly been able to call up at short notice quality replacements which already have experience at National Level. I feel we are in a strong position to challenge Hungary on Friday.”

Gibraltar play Hungary in Mandok on Friday at 3pm, with the game live-streamed online by the host nation.
