Gibraltar Rugby started well their international fixture list with a terrific comeback in Hungary to win their first international friendly of the season.
A late converted try from Gibraltar’s Seb Triay helped the National Team come from behind to beat Hungary 21-15 in Mando
GRFU Spokesperson Jack Milner: “The win showed that Gibraltar Rugby can grind out a result, and compliment’s last year’s 51-7 defeat of Montenegro away from home. The writing was one the wall when the hosts went 15-14 up for 20 minutes to go but Gibraltar showed wonderful tenacity to claim a deserved victory and we now look forward to welcoming Hungary to Victory Stadium in the return fixture next February.”
Gibraltar had led early on in the match going 6-0 up in the first halfway of the match. Gibraltar lead Hungary 11-3 thanks to a late try from Jonny Reyes just before the break. Gibraltar managed to lead 14-10 before the host took the lead with a try putting the score 15-14 to them. A late converted try from Gibraltar’s Seb Triay gave Gibraltar the win, their second away from home after beating Montenegro. Gibraltar Rugby have now won their last three international friendlies against Montenegro, Finland and now Hungary.
